    Padi Deep dive specialty

Just a quick question, do you have to use an alternate air source like a pony bottle as part of the Padi Deep dive specialty?

Nope, not when I did it (which was about 11 or 12yrs ago so it may have changed).

The guys i saw hanging on the 50m line at ndac recently didn't either. Looked like they could have done with one.

PADI sugest it as an option that should be considered but they dont insist upon it and its not included in the must do training.

You may find that you need to breathe from an alternate air aource as part if the course... on mine it was a pony carried by a divemaster.

When I did the course in October 2012 I carried a stage and had to breathe off it as a course requirement.

    Re: Padi Deep dive specialty

I remember doing mine in the sea with a max depth of about 25m... my subsequent instructor couldn't believe it when I told him but I guess it was within course parameters.
