I've just come in from standing on a stepladder in torrential rain to try to clear the gutters on the cattery - the whole thing slopes gently towards the drainpipe and the door is only about 1/3 of the way along, yet it always blocks so that the waterfall forms just there!

No and we've tried adjusting the height of various bits of it in the past. It's just haunted.

I am no expert on felix domesticus, but I believe they have an aversion to water? Could you not employ one to do the gutters? Drop the little chap in at one end and it will scrabble to escape, thus displacing the debris in a claws and paws race to the far end of said gutter? I suppose you need something to keep it on track and not simply escape to one side, maybe a bit of hardboard or something?

    Just thinking out loud really.

I think you're not thinking it through - to stand any chance of keeping the little sod in place, i'd not only need to be up the ladder, but also run alongside. I can see a rat on a piece of string might work.

As far from the sea as we could be, except when we can actually get in it.

What about a variation of the cat with the buttered toast strapped to it? Effectively the cat rotates as it makes it's way along the gutter clearing debris as it goes.

Just tried to add 2 coats of wood stain to the new chicken coops before the heavens opened - did not succeed. My coat also managed to channel all the water into the top of my jeans, now sitting around sulking in a dressing gown.

    Can be useful sometimes.
    Paul.
If God had meant us to breathe underwater, he would have given us larger bank balances.
Human beings were invented by water as a means of moving itself from one place to another.

Can't you control the weather using witchery or something?
