I have just taken delivery of a tortilla press. Three reasons for buying one. 1. I can now make ones with maize flour. 2. I don't have to buy packs that I never use up and 3. It was shiny.

Mrs T is on her laptop doing the usual pre-Christmas purchase of booze from the Wine Society. Of course we just have to have sherry for the visitors that come, so she reads out the reviews of 3 types that she thinks we should have. Fine, I say, get all 3 - it's never lost. So she adds them to the list. After 10 minutes she asks if maybe we've gone over the top with the sherry.... Mmmm, I say - like you do whilst concentrating on something else.... 36 bottles of sherry she says..... What? You're ordering a case of each of the 3 types????
I know we're getting on a bit, but 36 bottles is a bit much. It'll be Advocaat, next.

Our last big wine order somehow (actually by not reading what was written down) managed to get only massively alcoholic reds - 14% is now a low alcohol option - so sherry is a pretty smart choice plus you get more complicated flavours than in a bottle of wine costing 3x as much. Advocaat is however beyond the pale - what does anyone see in a drink made out of Dutch lawyers?

Evolution is great at solving problems. It's the methods that concern me.

Watched a documentary on Sparks last night. It was very good and now I have to buy all their albums!

Looks like a hairdrier but is designed to pulse and is used to massage soft tissues. I prefer it to foam rolling and find it more effective too at getting rid of and preventing niggles that develop into bigger problems.

As far from the sea as we could be, except when we can actually get in it.

The company we got our 'free' wills from a couple of years ago rang today trying to sell me a funeral plan. I told him we didn't need his advice as, due to family circumstances, we'd got a fair bit of experience setting these up.
He told me I could get a good deal today because I was in my mid 60s and ''might have a good ten years left but I might go a lot sooner".
    He didn't get a sale.
"...are we human, or are we diver?"
