AP Rebreather Safety Mouthpiece On Golm-Gear?

Anyone ever tried the AP mouthpiece with the safety strap on a Golm-Gear BOV? My Drager one snapped today so I need a replacement and like the look, and price, of the AP offering.

I had the old style one, hated it. It was very uncomfortable, pulled the body of the GG up into my nose. I sold it after a month. No idea what the new design is like.

Michael Lombardi does a very cheap clone of the Draeger. It fits over a standard mouthpiece rather than the bit you bite being moulded as part of it: https://www.underseatools.com/collec...ning-strap-mrs

Wow that clone really is a LOT cheaper.

I used the AP one on a GG shrimp before I became an uber cool JJ diver. It works perfectly fine and a lot cheaper than the draeger one I now use, but is a lot more flimsy as it is basically 2 mask straps attached to 2 orings. I broke the orings and the strap in the end. The orings are the same as the loop ones on the AP so were an easy swap out for old AP ones.

I think the orings might actually be an ok design feature. If BO and ascending and trying to get off the loop, they make it easy to get out of the gag strap if it gets caught on something
If my post doesnt have a typo, then I have probably been hacked!

This is one I'm talking about, think it's different from the one you used?

Looks brilliant though the delivery is quite high and might get hit with import tax etc. I will ask a mate that goes to the states with work to order me a couple.

Link doesnt work for some reason. Says that AP doesn't like hotlinks for that item. Looking at the catalogue, it has indeed changed. It us now a copy of the draeger one but with fabric straps and a tenner off the cost. I wouldnt like the non rubber straps but that is just me

I use it with a GG shrimp. I find it works well once you've figured out where the strap should sit on the back of your head. For me, I have it at the back of my neck, i've seen some people who prefer it on the crown of the head.

The only downsides I've found so far are that the rubber of the mouthpiece is quite soft and easy to accidentally hole. I'm careful to protect it when I'm putting the unit in the van. You need to take care when fitting the zip tie too.

The other downside is on long dives it rubs on the inside of my bottom lip a bit. It's not bad, just causes a bit of swelling. This might be because I have the strap a bit tight or perhaps a bit too low. I keep meaning to experiment, but forget when I'm kitting up.

    Overrall I like it.

My main concern was if it seals on the GG BOV and it obviously does so that sounds good to me.
