HSBC Expat is what I am looking at now.

I have lived in Egypt for 20 years and never had problems until now...

Its a money laundering thing - unless you are a premier customer its increasingly difficult to find a bank that will take you if you are not in the UK or at least appear to be so. HSBC traditionally served this market and advertise that they do. I have zero experience of HSBC in Egypt but their local banks range from OK to appalling. Have you tried HSBC Jersey? I think the IOM has been told to get squeaky clean by the regulators...

When I lived in the US I moved my account to a GBP account held in an Irish bank. Didn't require an Irish address. I think that was AIB. That was a few years ago so things may be different. But as the entire country's economy is built off foreign companies dodging tax then I'd guess there are still options.
