Re. the LNB: I once spent a while explaining what polarisation was to a client who didn't understand why various satellite tuners they had around the office, fed from the same LNB, could tune to various channels simultaneously but would suddenly switch channel or go blank when somebody tuned to a different channel. I like and use polarisation, but still can't get my head around circular polarisation, especially the left / right thing.
Meh, I just care that its compatible with my Harmoney remote and I can switch it all on from my phone

I still have the internet and a TV aerial. I was going to ditch both, but realised that watching Wreck Detectives and posting on YD would take a chunk out of my phone's data allowance.

I don't watch a huge amount of TV but that's what I do for all the channels I watch (no TV reception at my house). I just use an old Android tablet and a Chromecast and it does everything I need it to. If there's ever anything I want to keep longer than the expiry date then I just save it to my laptop until I've watched it. Most things have a decent expiry date now, apart from the BBC and there's plenty of iPlayer recording software out there.

    TV Aerial, How Quaint

Its the ability's to record a lot of 4K at once without using your twisted pair that is the big plus.

I've known a twisted pair or two... but I'll have you know I have that non-conductive light carrying string into my place now. Also, to my surprise, the old BT cable isn't twisted from at least the pole to the modem. I have no idea how it managed 60Mbps on a good day.

On another note, who needs 4K? HD is good enough for me. I don't live in a big place, so the 32" TV I have is at exactly the right distance from the sofa for human eye's resolution.

On anonother note, who needs super-duper high speed internet in the first place? Unless you're in a multiple person household, with each person streaming in HD you really don't need more than 20Mbps tops. I'm now on the cheapest tariff my new provider (London only Community Fibre) has and I'm charged £22/month for 150Mbps. I really don't need it.

On anononother note... nope, that's it.

My telly does freeview. No box anywhere that I can see. It was 100 quid in Sainsburys. Seems to work OK apart from the porn. Is that the missing bit you lot are talking about?

I believe sky now do this as well, you used to own them.

Plenty for sale on Ebay today, and you still get to use the BT Youview APP.

I have a Freeview telly, thank you, but it's generally easier to just use the box. The TV hasn't the apps like Netflix etc. Also, I'm one of the worst people possible when it comes to televisions. It's not so bad now (people have learnt not to ask and I've no friends left) but friends used to get a new telly and insist I gave my honest opinion. It was rarely positive and they often got upset. TVs have improved greatly since the early days of flatscreens, but walking through the TV section of a shop is almost physically painful. It's so rare to find a properly set up TV, but at least Samsungs aren't all blue as they used to be.

Yeah, that's where I'll go if I can't find anything suitable and BT really wants its box back.
