Video camera upgrade
At the moment I am using a Go Pro 9 and two 9,000 lumen Divepro video lights. The results can be seen in trip reports, so not too shabby.
I currently shoot in 2.7k format. The Go Pro will do 5k, but my notebook makes hard work of processing this type of. Notebook has 16Gb of RAM plus decent video card.
I take video of the wildlife and wrecks. I thought about doing photogrammetry but seeing the results of the professionals and their 45,000 lumen lights, with 250 Gbyte RAM processing power, that is probably out of my budget for now.
Upgrading the notebook to a new machine is a possibility. But at £3K to make a difference, not sure.
If I were to upgrade the video camera, what should I go for?
Have you considered using a desktop instead of a laptop? You get a lot more 'bang for buck' as the Americans say. Our photo/video processing is done on a two screen desktop with dedicated SSD's for the photo work. I'mcConsidering upgrading to a more powerful processor and 32GB of memory. With Intel having just introduced their 12th generation, thereshould be some bargains on 11th generation chips around. Depending on the S/W being used, the graphics card or a greater multiplicity of cores may not make a huge difference to video/photo processing speed.
Don't really have room for a PC. Notebook is Core 17 16gb ram, quite decent. If I upgrade for photogrammetry purposes then I want more than 32gb.
