Padi dive master to bsac dive leader

Hi. We’ve got a padi dive master who’s joined our bsac club. Obviously she’s considered equivalent to bsac dive leader but are there any gaps in padi dive master compared to bsac dive leader that we might want to offer to cover? I dont know padi divemaster requirements unfortunately but from what i can find online it looks like deep diving, decompression, bsac’s acronyms (seeds, reap, bar), nitrox if not already trained and boats/chartwork and position fixing dependant on what they’ve done before. Anything else anyone would recommend?

DM is the start of the commercial route, and misses out all of the stuff about taking groups of divers to a known site. There is a crossover pack for AD (TP8) that they can get that fills in the gaps before the training to AD (also included in the pack) continues.
I've taught lots of DM (and higher) who have never seen a chart or tide tables. It's just a different thing and the higher you get in either organisation, the further apart they get- but I wouldn't expect a DL to know diddly squat about commercial diving operations either!
It's perfectly fine for them to dive within the branch within the limits of their existing DM qualification.

TP8 won't include any boat handling as that isn't part of DL- she will need to do the Boat Handling SDC for that, the ideally the Diver Coxn Assessment.
The pack will include the Dive Management part of DL though, along with some Practical Rescue Management. From memory I think she should already have O2 admin. But won't have any of the dive planning bits of DL like charts and tides and How To Chop an Onion*.

Depends on your individual of course, but their is another alternative

DM is the first professional level in PADI and is often referred to as a certified assistant.
A lot of the course is about looking after trainees and assisting Instructors, something ADI's do in BSAC.

By getting a DM on a BSAC IFC, they get ADI and can start helping out teaching.

So whats in it for them?
Often those who went for DM have visions of going for the PADI IDC/IE (Padi Instructor Course/Exam).
This can be a massive (and extremely expensive) step for some as any actual teaching training can be limited.

This is wny PADI came up with an IDC prep courss, because so many of the candidates skills were weak.

So intead of a PADI IDC prep, substitute BSAC IFC
You've now got a DM/DL who can teach in the pool and even in open water (under certain conditions)

While this is going on he/she is learning BSAC syllabus, doing assists on actual DL courses and learning about DL "gaps"
on the job.

We sell this idea to our DM's and many get their training fix so much so they just become full BSAC Instructors instead.
Others though have used the BSAC training to prep for IDC/IE and become full PADI Instructors.

In one case he went onto MSDT and bought a dive school
