To worry or not to worry.

I'm selling a microwave on Amazon Marketplace and have a buyer that wants to pay/collect by EMS - driver gives me an envelope with money in and I give him a box with the microwave in it.

The whole thing makes me suspicious as I'm prepared to deliver it locally.

Buyer now wants my name, address and email address to arrange EMS and I'm concerned about the info being used to possible open a credit card in my name or something else nefarious.

Am I being paranoid or rightly suspicious?

Better to be overly suspicious than to be conned.
    Paul.
If God had meant us to breathe underwater, he would have given us larger bank balances.
Human beings were invented by water as a means of moving itself from one place to another.

I think that you are correct. I've just called off the sale and I'll wait and see if any protests come back.

If someone arranges a courier for a collection only item, they give up on their money back rights from Ebay

Not quite 'that one' as mine was supposed to send cash.

I've not heard back from the 'prospective buyer' so it looks very likely that it was going to be a scam or just after personal details in order to apply for CC in my name.

May all scammers' undercarriages turn mouldy and drop off or heal over!

I just nearly bought a storage locker off ebay - what could go wrong, new, £500 cheaper than the competition, free delivery (it weighs 180kg), 99.8% favourable review scores from several hundred customers etc. But something didn't feel right. Then I actually checked the reviews in detail - they were all for sheets of stickers that cost £1! Either they have a weird diversification plan or they were setting up a scam - maybe the other end of those mysterious free parcels that you sometimes get without having ordered anything.
