New Video: Sony A7Siii Underwater
The Sony A7Siii full frame, mirrorless camera is perhaps one of the hottest cameras on the market and the centerpiece for our new camera rig. Yet, when deciding to make the purchase we found little information about using it to film underwater making startup a challenge. In this video we will discuss the switch to this new camera, why we made it, and how we configured it to film underwater. We will show you actual clips from A Diver's Life videos to illustrate its use and those of our previous underwater camera, the Panasonic GH5s. We only wish someone else had made this when we were making the decision to switch.
We share research about the camera and how to configure it before and during underwater filming based on how we film. We also highlight problems and misleading, or at least conflicting information, about the Sony A7Siii, we encountered transitioning to the new camera rig. We do this so that you don't have to go through it yourself and you can tailor your settings to get the best shot. We will share experience with overheating, and how to get around noise that appears in various ISO ranges. You will also see before and after transitions to understand where color grading is necessary to get the best out of higher end cameras.
This video is not an exhaustive list of How Tos of everything this camera offers. It is intended to get new Sony A7Siii users up to speed filming with it underwater.
If you are an action camera videographer and want to step up into prosumer underwater cinematography we hope this will help send you on your way. This is only Part 1. Part 2 will cover the housing, wet lens system, lens selection, integration and integration with an external display to aid filming and record the video.
This is our first technical video for the channel so constructive feedback is welcome.
