    BSAC Primary Donate Workshop

This turned up in my FB feed this morning

    https://www.bsac.com/training/skill-...onate-workshop

Seems to require the student to have done or be doing a twinset course.

    OMG

What next? Ice skating is now officially taking place in Hades.
We give 350m a week to the EU. Let's give it to Dido Harding instead.

    Don't know why.

In buddy checks I've said for years* the DV in my mouth is 'Our' air (gas) and the one I'm not using is 'MY' air (gas). Never been a problem. Say the same even when diving with a single.

*certainly around the time I investigated Bill Mains words to fully understand his thinking.

I guess certain people are no longer holding sway over BSAC teaching hog looping in general based on their fears of a very artificial situation.

Lots of jungle pictures with Lanny and Claire in the instructor notes.
Bought a house in Devon, drank cider from a lemon.

I assume that Mike Rowley is now axeling and salchowing on Chris's Satanic rink.

I spent a (lovely) week on the Maureen years ago and spent a lot of time arguing about it with Growley. He kept insisting that primary donate wasn't taught by GUE and that "grab it" was taught instead. My buddy and I were the only Guers on the trip and the rest were all from a BSAC club. The trip had been organised by a BSAC woman who was particularly strident about how primary donate was a killer.

Neither of them would accept that (a) it was safe or (b) that it wasn't taught as primary grab. They knew, of course, despite having no experience of actually being taught by GUE, or seen any trained divers@ drills.
Happy to be a woke* feminist SJ(K)W snowflake in a godless universe, no matter what some experts think. And Braun was a twat who's not missed. At all.

    * Had to add woke; couldn't resist.

I still can’t work out why you need a course for this.

Here have this reg I’m breathing as you know it’s a safe gas and I’ll pick up my second reg and breathe from that.
That’s very kind of you. Thank you very much for stopping me drowning.

    Or am I missing something?

Couldn’t agree more. It’s beyond me why it’s such a big deal and why bsac have dragged their feet for so long.

Because of the way the whole fiasco was originally handled the BSAC in some ways made a rod for their own backs. A few years ago a more forward thinking NDO changed the rules so that as long as you had been trained by an external agency you could use primary debate. Having an internal course that allows teaches PD is the logical step as they can not effectively dumb down the safe diving practices. This could leave the BSAC open to litigation in the event of a less than totally successful out of gas situation where PD was used by an untrained diver.

Part of the original debate/ problem was created by aggressive marketing of the hogarthian diving system and DIR telling very experienced divers they were doing it wrong and diving in a dangerous manor. This in itself would not have been so bad except some less experienced divers read on the internet this was the way to dive and attempted their own version of the wrap long hose around their neck.

I am pleased that the BSAC have brought out this course. I just hope it is not over complicated.

    Graham.

We're talking beeserk. It can only be a matter of time before the word "insurance".
