Sadly it looks like the concerns I raised as OP are happening. Will we see tanks surrounding the inauguration? The USA militias and far right have been massaged by Trump and I can see that the situation will probably get messier and more violent. I hope the Obamas are nowhere near Washington DC for the next fortnight and their home is well guarded!!!!

I think impeachment is the main ? only way a serving (if that's what he has done can be called) president can be legally tried for most Federal and civil offences, when he is no longer president impeachment becomes irrelevant? I do hope so. However it may be relevant for his long game re 2024 as if convicted via impeachment he may not be able to stand again. Though my understanding of US constitution and its arcane writhings is imperfect.
As indeed is that of most US legal scholars!

Whatever faith system you adhere to, I sincerely doubt that either of these two would be allowed through. I think it more likely that they would be turned away and then say that.
