In Edinburgh they aren't - when I lived there 10 years ago the local chippy had a large selection of confectionary (Mars, Dairy Milk, Snickers, Curly-Wurly etc.) that could be purchased deep fried to order and that was certainly not on the tourist trail. You could also have pies and frozen pizza deep fried to order.
More recently I went into a cafe/chippy just off George Square in Glasgow where they offered to deep fry a roast beef panini for me (still not sure if that was a wind-up due to my English accent).
Mars bars aren't that bad deep fried - they get all chewy like toffee - but I think one every two or three decades is probably about right
Now back home. The diving this week has been stunning. 15+ metres viz every day. I will do some video editing when I have time, now getting interested in this videogrammtary stuff to make 3d images. So I might have to pop back up for some training and practice.
If you have chance for a sneaky week in Scapa this or next month then go for it.
Arrived in Scapa yesterday. Weather and diving today has been fantastic. Around 10m+ viz on the Dresden and The Karlsruhe.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
Hope this did not involve your boat RIP

I failed to dive in Antartica
I used to have a handle on life but it broke
Do we have to put these up on here?
It's a massive tragedy and, aside from those directly involved, nobody knows any more and nobody will be discussing nor speculating on this in an open forum.
It is a horrible end to a horrible year.
