    Scapa at the moment

This week I am on board the Clasina dive boat up in Scapa. Weather is a bit wet and rainy and the water temp is around 10c. Dive conditions are excellent.
All the pubs are closed in the evening so be prepared to self-cater via the Co-Op, chinese takeaway (cash only) or sometime fish and chip van, but expect a 45 minute in the queue for fish and chips

I'm on board Huskyan next week. Do you know if pubs / restaurants in Kirkwall are open?
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

    The situation on Scotland is:
    Nationwide (excepting central belt areas):

    * Hospitality (food and drink): all premises may only open indoors between 6am and 6pm, with no sales of alcohol
    * Hospitality (food and drink): premises may open outdoors until 10pm, with sales of alcohol (where licensed)
    * Takeaways (including from pubs and restaurants) can continue
    * Evening meals may be served in accommodation for residents only but no alcohol can be served
    * Current meeting rules, maximum of six people from two households, continue to apply [That means no more than two households per table]

Effectively the central belt is in full lochdown.

    My italics

Just a bit. It is going to be breezy. Rain is expected all day, we just don't know how much . We can get suited in the dry which helps. The Clasina is very stable, but the waves can be a bit big.

Have you ever had a deep fried Mars bar? They're awful, really, truly awful. I think most places these that still do them do so for the tourists. If there aren't many of those around then there's no point keeping them on the menu.
