I have binned 2 dive trips, incl one this weekend as I am judt not willing to take chances on COVID at the moment with cases rising.

I have told them to keep my money and let me know what else I owe as I wont allow anyone to be out of pocket due to my decisions
Remember anything you read on the internet was probably written by some guy sitting at home in his underpants! Including this !!

We went on holiday. We wore our masks from the moment we got out of the car at the airport right up to the point we were in our hotel room. Totally worth it.
We wore masks in public spaces in the hotel, shops, bars and restaurants except when actually eating or drinking. Totally worth it.
I wore a mask when I used the hotel gym. Totally worth it.
Out of our party of 4, 3 worked the entire lockdown, 2 of them in public facing jobs serving a public that were increasingly blasť to the risks. We deserved that break and having to wear a mask wasn't going to stop us.

I have no sympathy for a snowflake whining about not going on holiday because he's too precious to wear a mask for a few hours.

I'm thinking the same about going abroad, so this year in August I spent a few days in Cornwall and a few in Lundy diving which I had never done before. Lundy was such fun, we have chartered the same dive boat and booked our camping spots on Lundy this week for July next year.

    My status
Dive club Easter RIBs trip to Portland cancelled - no cost
Dive Club Whitsun RIBs trip to Porthkerris cancelled - no cost
Dive Club June hard boat trip to Baltimore. Now rescheduled to June 2021. I have a £400 deposit on this. Not sure who is holding it ( Ferry, B&B, Skipper, and/or club organiser).

I hadn't booked anything beyond June. I could have joined subsequent Club trips to Porthkerris, Oban, Sussex, Suffolk which have gone ahead but I decided not to socialise as i have family responsibilitys i need to respect.

Diving I have done, mainly shore diving (plus a day out on Channel Diver). Which has been excellant, Newhaven, Shoreham, Burton Bradstock, Weybourne all off the beach. 10 litre bottle and in just a 5mm shorty. So easy, very little lead, minimum kit, comfortable, very agile, all lovely dives.

Saw a mass spider crab event, targeted and found undulate rays, revisited the Rosalie after many years, explored a new area at Hive finding evidence from the canadian Dieppe exercises. Its been very varied.

Arrived back from Sicily yesterday and was caught by the requirement to fill in the Public Health Passenger Locator Form available at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration

A very very helpful Border Policeman helped us fill the form in for 20 mins or so. Has to be done online 2 days before departure to UK apparently.

Not really easy for those who are not used sto smart tech but has to be done.

Be warned if you are intending to travel

The Passenger Locator Form has been around for a while and needs to be completed by anyone returning to the UK. Noone ever checked mine or checked if I was quarantining when I got back from Gran Canaria but I did the 14 days not leaving home thing. I am very lucky that I can work from home and so quarantining isn't an issue for me and I am booking all future travel as if I may have to quarantine after (I.e. no plans to go out for 2 weeks after). The new normal I guess!

Glad someone was able to help you

Booked flights to the apartment in Cyprus for 4 weeks April/May and flights were cancelled. Free rebook for September/October (Jet2) and am currently sitting in Cyprus following a negative covid test. Enjoying the sun and the"T" shirt diving. Feels a lot less threatening here. Still some regulations/masks etc., but easily manageable. They locked down hard and early and the number of cases are minimal. Not really looking forward to the UK in two and a half weeks. Starting to plan coming back April/May depending on how shit the UK is and what happens with my knee replacements that should have started in June. 😎😎

Hi, How was the diving in Gran Canaria and how was it for a holiday destination?

Travelled a few times. Never had anyone check the PLF was complete if you use eGates.
I've heard of a few people at desks being asked but the details on it were never verified.
On top of that, a few people get an outsourced phone call reminding them to quarantine but absolutely no checks are made on top of that.

The whole system is completely and utterly pointless. Theres nothing at all in place to ensure the rules are being adhered to and i guess its fairly obviously a chunk of people arent for that reason.

One flight we had a person openly saying he put down "Prince Andrew, Pizza Express, Woking" on the form (and showing it to prove) and various others opting to not fill it in at all unless checked at the airport (they werent)

The UK PLF also seems designed by a civil servant. Multiple duplication of the same information across it. Lots of data is also stuff they could get directly from the passport or other databases. Compared to the Greek form which was fast, easy and the whole system very efficient.

Greek needs to be done 48 hours PRIOR to travel so the details can be verified, some people are tested on arrival, a QR code generated. Worked well.
UK cant be done any longer than 48 hours before and clearly isnt verified as complete or accurate.
