After tips and price confirmation from those who keep oxygen at home to fill CCR cylinders, nitrox, bail-outs and deco gases.
Although I have a rebreather, I am back on open circuit for the foreseeable future as parted from my unit due to Covid19. I had been filling diluent from a bank of 16/55 and adding air as necessary using a booster, oxygen has been from the LDS at 1.5p per litre plus £4 per fill. I am now diving nitrox, usually 27% which is charged at £4 air fill plus 1.5p per litre plus £3 blending. I do around 100 dives per year in local waters.
Assuming that 3/4 of the dives are on nitrox and 1/4 on air, I believe that the oxygen side of the equation comes to about £500 per year, not including deco gases, renting a Y from BOC and 5 fills would be around £200 per year. When back on CCR, I believe the cost will be around £300 from the LDS and £180 if I fill at home.
Do these figures look right?
There are convenience issues on both sides of the argument, so just looking at costs.
