I'm delighted to be able to share this; it's a stimulating watch for any u/w photographer.

NUPG's May 2020 meeting was held online, so we were able to record this full-length talk.

Underwater photographer Alex Mustard looks back on the early years of his career and how planned and unplanned events shaped his transition from amateur to professional photographer. Combined with this retrospective, the main theme of the talk is an examination of the photographer's relationship with their audience, specifically how considering a specific audience can guide our photographic decisions and give our images clear concepts and direction. Alex encourages the audience to shoot first to please themselves, but also to think about who we are shooting for to improve the quality of our work.

Non-members usually pay 4 to attend an NUPG meeting, so online viewers are asked to consider donating an equivalent amount to an ocean related charity of their choice.
