    Yes, you see we agree.

    Gives me the opportunity to confirm kit didn’t get damaged during the flight, and the chance to remember I’m not diving in a drysuit.

    Another approach. You have a couple of long established dive shops in your area Dive 90 being one of them and they organise a number of trips if they could be helpful in explaining how the dive shop trip deal works. Also if they would help with estimated numbers and costs.

    For the dive equipment I would consider getting one big players to provide all, you can approach the likes of Aqualung, Cressi, Beuchat, Scubapro and the like yourself cost up for say 20 sets scuba gear plus spares plus various size wet suits, masks fins, you should be able to get a better than trade price deal.

    The other option is the compressor boys have existing special OEM deals with shipping the stuff out with the compressor and bank as a job lot. Crated out with the compressor in one shipment, Fork lifting cartage etc is better from folk who can handle bigger crates and much easier using an outfit that can lift 3 tonnes in one lift than a scuba shop handballing each item in 15Kg cardboard cartons.

    Another approach. Reason I say this is, I supplied all the diving kit for the then new London Aquarium, All because we supplied the compressor and bank. The scuba kit was just another line item on the load out list for shipping. Did the same thing for Plymouth University. 30 sets scuba gear. One of the reasons you see Coltri sub compressors doing say Luxfer cylinders albeit the rubbish Coltri regs and stuff. But you get the idea

    Also for far east use most of the time you don't need to use the UK importers for the scuba stuff. Use the drop shippers out of Taiwan (or did before the botton fell out) No point shipping it half way across the planet pay shipping import duty customs clearance, handling, exchange rates and warehousing in the UK only to ship it all back halfway back across the planet. And this don't keep Greta Thunberg happy.

    Also same reason not to use a UK dive shop to supply you. Best you could get would be UK trade price less 10% and even then your paying all the additional as listed above. Also the UK importers/distributors who supply these dive shops could give you a better deal, but they are difficult to deal with and you need to know your way around the industry for them to break ranks and supply you. Speak softly and carry a big stick is the beat approach.

    My view would be to hold off spending any money right now as non of us know the future. Well apart from God. But no point dropping 80K in some backward far east cesspit with a bunch of local thugs, sorry I ment to say PADI.

    Also you want from the compressor folk a free service and training course, full strip down rebuild complete piston head liners and bearings down to the crankcase side. In other words a full rebuild course at no charge. And you need to see a full spares price list of every service listed part.

    Don't be fobbed off with the free service con being offered by some where they teach you to replace an air filter, filter cartridge and change the oil. And the first time you know the price of the real spare parts is when you break something. Full service itemised parts fully priced, And a full service course free of charge, or stick em.

    For the scuba kit the only reason to use the UK distributors is if they offer you a similar free service course deal and you want a full written contract that they will supply you all the service items and spare parts for the next say 5 years again or you stuff them with that big stick. You also want the paper certificates for the wall as well. Not some behind the scenes mates rate sitting in with the service guy or the dive shop owner teaching you. Also forget IDEST SITA and the rest.

    You also need a written scheme of examination at no charge and a written service maintenance procedure again at no charge and all the workshop manuals. Not the poxy user manuals.

    All you should supply is the electrical power supply on site.
