RIP Dr. John Bevan
I see in the Obituaries this morning that Dr. John Bean died on February 3rd. His passing is a great loss to diving medicine and the diving world in general. I met him once years ago and he was a very interesting and approachable guy.
There was an obituary piece about him on R4. Approx 22 minutes in...
He was as mad as a box of frogs. Last time I saw John he was dressed up looking like something between a Thomas the tank engine engineer and Isambard Kingdom Brunel. His hat was so big he needed that famous Yorkshire steeplejack Fred Dibnah to climb it. Everone knows him from that RNPL 1500 foot dive photo grinning out of the chamber. To my mind I will remember him for the Normalar Garrett Deep Dive 500 dives, That is once I get that Isambard Kingdom Brunel hat of his out of my mind. Iain
Allan. You sure you dont mean Jim Bean or is that a Welsh spell checker your using.
