Hello and welcome to our community! Is this your first visit?
Stoney this week
I am at Stoney on Sunday. I wondered if anyone knows what the conditions are like at the moment?
I am hoping for 6c at the surface and about 4c down at the hydrobox.
What is the viz like, and should I take my go pro to video the pike?
I'm there tomorrow but taking in trainees so I won't be down to the hydrobox but will post details of the shallower areas tomorrow evening.
Temperature at the shallower levels was 5.4 degrees. Someone who had spent 30 minutes down at the hydrobox (not sure how they didn't die of boredom!) said the temperature was nearer 4 degrees. Viz wasn't bad, 4-5 metres at the shallower depths although not as good as it was 2 weeks ago.
Spaces in the bottom car park all day.
I will be watching some rebreather divers practise some skills
My Suuntos read the temp as 7c. The hydobox viz was good, maybe 7m.
Two of the divers in our group were using heated gloves. Thet had warm hands at the end of the dive. It might catch on.
Interesting difference in temperature. Of the four in my group with computers (three different types) that recorded temperature, the range was 5.4 to 5.7 degrees. I have to saty that I am much warmer overall having switched to dry gloves, it's not just my hands that are warmer.
I have always suspected that Suunto read 1c higher for temperature.
