MY Blue Fin. December 2019. Blue O2
Booked on for Tiran and North itinerary. Didn't work out like that as Egyptian military (Navy?) closed Tiran off for the week. We ended up doing what must have been Wrecks and Reefs. I was somewhat disappointed as I hadn't been to Tiran for sometime and wished to check it out before Sharm UK flights resumed.
Never mind we did dive Thistlegorm, Ghiannis D and the four wrecks sunk in Queen Victoria's reign - Carnatic, Dunraven, Kingston and finally Ulysses (which I had never dived before). Besides this we did two dives on Ras M (one not so good, one better).. Plus a number of other reefs. The four Queens made it for me.
We were well looked after by the Captain and crew plus the dive guides. One sad note is the BO2 are disposing of Blue Fin and the future of some of the crew seems to be in doubt.
Originally booked for flights with Thomas Cook BO2 rebooked us on Tui with no problems. Checking in reminded me that this airline still gives an extra 5Kg baggage on production of a diver cert card - worth remembering! :-)
Night dives were offered and enjoyed by those who participated. First day dive on the Thistlegorm there was a very strong current. Needless to say not many took up the option of the night dive but for the two who did there was no current and as we were the only boat there no-one on the wreck but them. Last dive offered was El Mina which always enables me to wash my equipment early. Nice dive if you haven't done it before.
