Have a look at the BSACs web site and see what branches are near you. I can only speak for MKSAC but I expect other bsac branches are the same and welcome qualified divers. You then get lots of buddies to dive with .

Local shops tend to have a club associated with them so that could be a route for you too.

This is one of the strengths of BSAC, join a club to learn and there are potential buddies on tap too.

One thing you will learn about divers is that we tend to be pretty vocal about what we do for a hobby. Mention diving in a group and any diver will immediately perk up!

There are loads of facebook groups that are quite active, pretty much any charter boat will have it's own page with spaces advertised when they need to fill the boat, talk to the skippers and be honest about your experience level and most will try and find you spots with a decent group where someone experienced will buddy up with you.

Local clubs definitely worth looking into as well, you will find a massive variety in clubs as to what they are like, a lot of the shop-clubs are just trying to sell courses and plastic tat, some of the other clubs are just cliques of mates doing advanced diving who aren't interested in newbies, and everything in between.

I would say cast your net wide and don't get stuck diving with just one small group/club/shop

There are also several FB groups just for shore divers, 'shore dives in the UK' are very active on the South coast
