Caves, rescues and cockwombles...craig harris talks about his book

    https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas...=1000457283930

Really interesting and gives a bit more detail than I've heard previously.

    Very interesting.

True definition of hero when you hear about the choices the team made - the realistic thought was that the kids would not make it out alive by a rescue but that the alternative was to effectively kill them slowly by waiting until the monsoon receded. To face that dilemma and choose to proceed despite the knowledge of what it might do to them legally and mentally if they failed takes a hell of a lot of guts.

What about the suggestion to install an inflatable tunnel for them to crawl through. Obviously from someone who's never been near a cave... like a submarine.

As various reports have said and he alludes to during the podcast, they weren't ruling out any ideas without giving them some thought. Given the thoughts on the chances of survival with the diving option (which was thought to be virtually nil at one point) versus keeping them in the cave for the monsoon season I believe that they were seriously looking at any alternative until it proved impossible or impractical.
