Has anybody had any experience of the Divepro S40? I'm looking for a brighter torch, any chinese recomendtions in the 4000 range?

On the smaller torch side I have one of these from Amazon and better than the sealife 900 I have.

Chinese Lumens are between 2 and 10 times the number of SI Lumens. The variance depends on how much the seller likes to exaggerate.

Register an AliExpress account, check cost & postage, buy item, wait about 2 or 3 weeks for it to arrive. It's pretty much like Ebay (and many of the sellers are the same)
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

I take it the cheap umbilical ones aren't worth bothering with as opposed to the one on ali express recommended earlier? 20,000 lumens seems over rated, and I'm wondering if the umbilical is just something I'd end up getting snagged.

Doesn't look like they'll ship that to the UK

EDIT: just refreshed and suddenly shipping is now available to the UK

I've got one of the Northern Diver Varilux 3500 lumen torches which I've been very pleased with

The variable output is extremely useful to enable it to be turned down for night dives. In fact, it is so bright that I very rarely use it on full power.

My wife has one of the smaller 1000 lumen Varilux torches which is an excellent torch as well. The dive guides on our Red Sea trip were using these for night dives. They have a more concentrated spot beam than their bigger brother which will illuminate a large area.
