cheaper ball arm and clamp options

    Hi

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the low price clamps and ball arms available on amazon and eBay. Just setting up a system and it can make a huge difference to cost. On the other hand Iím new to this and donít want to buy junk.
    Cheers

I'm pretty impressed with the kit from flexarm.com, price, quality and delivery were all good.

That would be flex-arm.com I guess - your address is still available as a domain.

    Or you could buy second-hand, e.g. https://wetpixel.com/forums/index.ph...6-classifieds/

I bought mine from Amazon and they seem OK, they did start to tighten up after the first 30 dives so I would advise taking them apart and greasing the threads with silicone grease before use and every so often after, since doing that I've had no problems and would happily buy again.

I've bought a few from Ebay as sacrificial parts (no tears if I lose them!) and they're generally ok. Anodising quality isn't as good as Superlight ones and does vary quite a lot so a couple of balls have a bit of pitting corrosion but still work fine.

Can't offer advice on cheap parts, but from personal experience, get all your arms and clamps from the same supplier. I was using a mixture of Inon, Ultralight and Nauticam parts and was having no end of problems with sections locking up or flopping around. It appears that there are many interpretations of a standard 1 inch ball.

I bit the bullet and splashed out on a brand from Cameras Underwater which were nigh on identical to Ultralight but cheaper. However, Cameras Underwater appear to have gone off line.

I bought a set of the cheap ones from AliExpress, they work ok but have noticed that some of the clamps have a tendency to "thread" themselves which is easily fixed by cleaning and repositioning the screw which holds them together. I realise you get what you pay for but as someone who's not really into UW videography I could not justify spending the amount that some of the above named brands can add up to.

Not my address at all, I have nothing to do with the company other than I have bought from them and also recommended them to clients.
