Hello and welcome to our community! Is this your first visit?
Replaced my Galileo terra battery a few weeks ago and was a bit surprised when I got a low battery warning after 4-5 days of diving. 2 or 3rd time Iíve replaced it over the years, no major hassle.
So sourced another replacement and took out the old one.. rather surprised to see
And a distinct stench from the battery compartment which smells like electrolyte.. (Not salt water). Now if Iíd had a leak, the computer would have just died not kept on working so bit bemused as why this would just fail like this. Also any suggestions for cleaning out the battery compartment -Iíve cleaned out the best I can but want to ensure I get everything out.
Also I know there wasnít a leak as the other contact shows no signs of corrosion

White vinegar can be good for cleaning up battery leaks, used it on a head torch years ago and still going strong.
