No. It's all old junk dont touch it with a barge pole.
How old is this womens son anyway 60?
I think your being conned here, and a typical con is being used on you in that "she" doesnt know anything about the equipment,
Because she is selling on behalf of her son. Yeah sure the lying old goat.
Its the same thing you see when someone advertises "Im selling for a friend" It's the same lie Its always a lie.
They know its junk so to palm it off to unsuspecting new scuba starter you play the old for a friend route and obscure the real problem
with this bunch of junk.
1. The cylinder will turn out to be made more than likely from an aluminium that has been banned and is now scrap, easy solution ask then to photo
the wording and numbers accross the neck of the grey cylinder. Also ask for a photo on the neck when it was last tested the date will be clearly shown
You wont get it mind because "its in storage", or some such lie. But you will be assured it was working when he/she last used it (just not told it was in the 80's)
2. The demand valve is Dacor junk, It was even junk when it was new, Well now you cant get parts for it worth a jot (Dacor) junk rubbish scrap.
3. The BCD or buoyancy jacked looks like it would wrap around a horse, Double XXX Large one at that and has enough bouyancy to lift you into space if your not careful besides its ancient proberbly some crap made in Tiawan and by now leaks like a used teabag with the rubber parts cracked and periished like some old age pensioner out on a hen night.
Look when your ready to buy your own equipment you will know what to buy and what not to buy, you will try stuff on in a shop and compare one brand with another. You will meet fellow divers who will add to your experience by tranfering knowledge and experience for you to be able to make your own informed choice. Dont ask the clowns on a internet diving forum, most on this one are English or Irish not sure either of then know a great deal enough to help you those that are too stupid to know are too thick to care. But for $350 I would save you money and wait. Spending it on this junk would be a waste of it. You would also be better off asking on an American diving forum, they are more courteous in the main, more technical aware and product minded and can offer you alternatives.
Diving can be a great sport for all and to some of us it's been a great career, dont spoil it by using junk, you will be put off and pack it all in too soon and miss out on all the rewards in life of diving can offer.
