What does a double low water do to slack?
I've been looking at diving the M2 - everyone says 3-4 hours after HW Portland is the time for slack or 4 hours before HW.
However, does the double low water round Portland do anything? This weekend there us a low at 10:32, high at 12:21 and low at 14:00 all between the two main HW's of 5:15 and 17:50.
The tide height variation around the double low is about 0.2m... surely there must be some slack water in there?
Sorry nfi, M2 is usually a white stick dive.
I`ve usually struggled to see the hull from the conning tower; although I did once dive it, when you could see the whole wreck from 15m!
We were reading the side of the boat from 6m back up.
Never had a problem with slack, so the skippers knew what was going on.
Look at the tidal diamonds near the wreck. If you use an application such as Navionics ‘Boating’ there’s a couple close to the wreck which show the tide flow and direction.
But the skippers know when is best. It’s what you pay them for.
