    Lanzarote jellyfish close a beach

    dreadful quality video but my guess would be purple stingers, it's the right time of year for a big bloom of them

    They are purple in colour and have stingers. Who named them?

    Usual scaremongering by the tabloids, Famara is in the North opposite side to all the tourist beaches and gets windswept most
    of the time, so not exactly a top family beach. Only group that would be at risk if they are stingers are the surfers.

    There were loads of these in the sea near Almerķa, purple stingers, hardly deadly tho as per the headline, painful but not deadly, shaving foam reduces the effect of the sting quite well after rinsing in fresh water apparently.
