Not that depressing - all that report says is that some generic terms for “white fish” come from unknown and untraceable sources, which may or may not be sustainable. Figures, when you go out harvesting wild animals. ‘‘Twas always thus.
What ought to be of concern is that shark fin is a thing in UK.

What I find depressing is the thought that spurdog is endangered. When I started angling it was a nuisance fish to be avoided. It was common all along the south coast. Like the ever present lesser spotted dogfish it was little more than a bait thief. I can't remember the last time I saw a doggie when diving. Probably 15 years ago on the Layne I think.
