Mobile phone coverage on Sudan trip?

Whenever we go to Egypt, either Liveaboard or resort based, we always get an Egyptian SIM card at the airport for our phones as this gives us decent coverage and has always been a bonus to be able to use our phones as we would in the uk.

However, we are going on our first 2 week itinerary on the Sudan trip aboard Royal Evolution and are just wondering about the mobile coverage. Has anyone got any experience as to what we can expect regarding network?

Basically, how far down does an Egyptian SIM card take you.

As always, any advice gratefully received.

Hi Whistler. Mobile coverage non existent once you leave Port Ghalib. We did the 2 week trip aboard RE last April/May. The boat, crew, dive guides, dive sites are all stunning. PM me if you have any questions.

Nothing to do with phone coverage but a little to do with where you are going. Envy you. Good diving there but oh that visa rip off on arrival in Port Sudan!

Just an update. It seems we won't be doing this boat and itinerary as we should be getting on board about now, but we're actually still at Gatwick airport having flight cancelled due to some lovely person flying drones over the airport. Total chaos here. Not sure what's going to happen.

Oh no. A little late but commiserations. I can lend you some hemp should there be an opportunity.
Evolution is great at solving problems. It's the methods that concern me.
