I disagree, I’d expect them to ascend too quickly, or be stuck at depth hopefully resulting in gas share and CBL.

Out of air id say hed struggle to stay going that slowly

But WTF double it and you still have enough gas on a 50SAC

Look before we decend into the usual, how big is big enough rubbish

    Its simple

Calculate your SAC and your max dwell and ascent time and THAT tell you how big a cylinder you need, not a bunch of knobs on the internet

3ltr get me up from 40m with a bit of deco on a 40m dive

Other people wont be able to do that

I find it laughable the massive caution over 3ltr cylinders when I (like all the others on the boat) was doing 120min dives using two 7s for deco and taking 60mins to ascend

We even had some absolute nut cases doing 120mins deco dives on back gas and a single AL80 of 50%

Hang on wait for the madness????

The Al 80 only had 180 bar in "to make it float"

I know its crazy isn't it.

I've dived the Markgraf on a single 75 cuft - approx a 9l cylinder and done some deco as well (1981). I found a record of a dive I did back in 1967 - 40m including 6 minutes deco on a 50 cuft (6l) cylinder. Getting up from 30m on a 3l pony poses no problems.

I thought we'd already recommended that they buy 2 ponies and stick a scrubber in between them!

Does anyone have a pony regulator setup or preferably an Ali40 with one?

Ta - fresh out of OW so not going deep just yet...!
I tried side slinging, it just gets in the way of everything else clipped to your front.

Defiantly better clamped to your main cylinder imo
