Loch Long/ Fyne are the best places to dive over winter in my opinion. Weather isn't an issue. Parking is usually the only thing you have to consider. Make a weekend of it. There's a map on the Finstrokes website with loads of sites. Hotels can be VERY cheap over the winter. I usually stop in Arrochar. The three below are all a bit shit but they do the job. They'll put you within 30-40 minutes of more dive sites than you need. All of which will probably have something genuinely interesting to see.

I dive Coniston / Windermere / Wastwater a lot but only because I live next to them.
mostly I'm looking at day trips - Hodge was close to the limit

Did try diving windermere earlier this year - worst Viz I've ever seen anywhere! Wastwater the day before that was cracking though

Birks Bridge at base of Harter Fell in Duddon Valley, v clear waterfall and swim through.
Devils Bridge, best at dusk when the eels appear.
    The 3-4 quarries around Dorothea.
    Blue Lagoon in Snowdonia.
There's another quarry further south in Derbyshire Dales, will see if I can recall name.

You can dive Hodge from the top car park. We did it once. There’s a reasonable path down the spoil heap to the south of the car park which ends up at the start of the long tunnel. It’s hard work. Easier to take your sets down first in wellies.

I’ve helped some folks from High Wycombe SAC dive Red Tarn at Helveyln. The walk in to that made Hodge feel like the top car park at Stoney.

I have dived Loch Long a couple of times with Stafford Diver some years ago - really good fun and I can thoroughly recommend it. Parking is the big issue but it should be fine in winter.

There is a Hodge FB page with more detail and access to discuss with current owners.

He asks for an MR donation to the team of your choice

Mark Ellyatt's inspired training site has quite a lot of detail. It's a bit of a ballache access to the shafts is via a 300m(?) tunnel (dry) at the end of this there are 2 shafts from memory.

Left is OH, right though is a deep vertical shaft so prvoided you don't wander into the actual adits off the shaft direct surface access is possible.

Plenty of potential hazards though in terms of rotting mine debris etc.

I dived it in the 90s so memory is a bit sketchy on full detail.
