Impossible to put a number on , but with everyone and their dog on twinsets I expect more are than aren’t. I don’t really think there’s the rec/tec divide I feel you envisage, the rec/tec stuff I always feel was born out of commercialism the rest of us just go diving and use what we use.

In our case, most Mod 1 courses are now done in house, OC trimix as well. certainly over the last couple of years all the new RB divers I can think of were trained by club instructors.

Most Mod 2 and Mod 3 are currently done out of branch, but under BSAC remit. Hopefully within the next year or so we will be able to offer Mod 2 and Mod3 internally too.

We also teach blending and have trimix available to members.

How are you delivering mod1? In intensive weekends or in conjunction with club dives?

Usually one on one with dives planned ad hoc. Sometimes club dives, sometimes off to a local puddle.

Here's a BSAC club doing some pretty good technical diving.
