    Taking fins on board

Booked a flight to Malta for my first overseas dive. Iíve brought a pair of fins for the trip as my father (who has been diving for about 30 years) has recommended that I get my own pair.

Now Iím in an awkward situation, I canít fit the fins in my luggage! I canít find an option to include a picture, but would I get away with fins poking out of my suitcase? Or am I better off just attaching it to my suitcase?

Or should I just carry it in one hand? We only have 2x hand luggage allowance. We will be taking two suitcases.

Maybe I can dump the case, take a backpack instead and put the fins on the backside so it doesnít look so big?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Forget it. Rent some. Or get a bigger case. Or exchange them for smaller fins.

    Sorry.

Can your Dad who has been diving for thirty years and who recommended you have your own fins not advise?

Seriously, get yourself one of these

Fits all my warm water gear in, fins and all, plus a couple pairs of pants.

+1. Weighs a couple of kilos, instead of the usual > 5kg for a typical bag/case. Pretty much the same volume. Built to last and bargain price.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

Ahhh... If you've not booked any hold luggage, then unless you buy some shorter ones (and would any that short be worth it?!?) your option is to just rent them.

Who you diving with? Dive Deep Blue rent out RK3's, so not a shitty fin.

    Cheers

Strap them to the outside of your hand luggage. Job done.

Wear them. Say they are orthopaedic footwear.
