Following earlier post suggestion - if for some reason I was to win my topic would be out of focus.

Is there a way to subscribe to a thread without having to post to it?

Whilst I'm here: I think I should have blurred my image to take away the focus from anything but thr sunlight. Most of my images come out blurred so how did I get some of it in focus? Oh yes, that'll be down to bright light and fast shutter speed.

I think my imaginary superhero name will be Retrospective Man (rarely gets it right 1st time). :-)

For what it is worth, I quite liked your picture just as it was. Not enough to vote for though.

Depth of field (the plane that is in acceptable focus) is determined by the aperture (the size of the hole in the lens). Wide apertures (low f numbers) give a shallower depth of field than small apertures (high f numbers), and render the background nice and fuzzy. This means that you can make the subject stand out better. The depth of field / aperture relationship is a physical one so F2.8 on a full frame camera will give a much shallower depth of field than F2.8 on a Micro 4/3rds camera at an equivalent focal length. This is why phone cameras have a very large depth of field and will never replace proper cameras with proper lenses.

Thanks Georgina for sorting out the poll. I was away in Malta with nothing more than a phone.
Remember anything you read on the internet was probably written by some guy sitting at home in his underpants! Including this !!
