We have wind and rain in the North too. But surely there's a free lake in or around Cheltenham?

I'm not sure of that every diver I know or dive club for convenience use cromhall quarry or ndac.

    Hi Smiley,

Although I only managed 1 out of 3 planned dives as my neck seal split, I thought the NDAC had vastly improved and really come on. There were more and interesting attractions in the water, the cafe was now a proper cafe (not some caravan surfing burgers from the hatch) with decent looking food and prices and 2 bars with decent indoor and outdoor seating. The toilets were an improvement, I would not say great but certainly an improvement. May be a few more showers than just the 1 shower at the moment would improve things! I think £20 is probably a little steep, but if I dived more regularly there and took out membership and paid the £15 entrance fee I would be quite happy with that. To fill my 12l was £4.50 which is £1.50 cheaper than my local dive centre.

I think all in all I still prefer Stoney from how I remember it, the lay out and the attractions, the tug boat is a decent boat to dive and the hydro box is good fun. May be if the stanegarth was at the NDAC, I would swerve towards the NDAC instead of Stoney. Plus Stoney has more fish life from what I saw yesterday. Some nice Pike at the NDAC would be nice, unless they are already there and we did not see them?

The problem with wildlife at NDAC is that the army keep blowing it up.

There was a large shoal of Perch yesterday of assorted sizes and some Zebra Mussels but that was it. I'm told there's a sturgeon that was rehomed at NDAC after outgrowing a garden pond but I've not spotted it.

I would had thought it would had been more beneficial, financially to the dive centre if things were not blown up, fish stock thrived and more divers would visit the site?

As someone who works with Army Divers on a daily business, I can assure you they’ve not blown anything up in there. In fact in July when deployed my guys were the first to do underwater Dems for a long time.

Military divers are there regularly, either diving or doing work for the site.

Interesting, it's not the first time that NDAC staff have told me about the Army setting off explosives there.
