Smile Spearfishing buddy near Exmouth / South Devon, possibly Dorset / Cornwall

    Hi all

I've got my gear and keen to get in the water. I've never dived British waters even though I've been here for over 20 years. Most summers I've been canoeing or fishing from my SOT (Sit On Top) and just itching to get underwater and see what I can take home for dinner or just have a nose about.

If you're ever short of a buddy, or are willing to let me tag along, I'd really appreciate a message from you.

I'm a reasonably experienced spearo though it's been decades since I did it. I'm still well aware of when to load my gun and most importantly where to point it and not point it. You're not going to get some nub who thrashes about like a dying seagull on the surface and accidentally points the sharp end of his gun at you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope we meet up for a dive some time.
    Bernie

I'm too far away to meet up now, but I did quite well with mullet out of North Sands, just at the channel marker. Mullet from open water are surprisingly good to eat.

Thanks for the advice Andrew. I was wondering whether Mullet would be good eating. Now I know they're worth taking.

Have a look at deeperblue.com for spearo contacts.

Thanks bud, done that and signed up to the Failbook group "UK Spearfishing Buddies". Currently looks like there are more groups and forums than people to dive with!

Have a look on Facebook for Exe Spearfishing Club. A couple of them sometimes come to our pool sessions for a swim, but I don't have any contact details for them.

Edit, just found devon@underwaterfishing.co.uk Dave O'Callaghan is their chair, a serious competitor.
