    There should be no need to take any of your own gear as any outfit which does basic training will have gear for rent. When we have been restricted by baggage allowance, my wife and I have often rented gear (though we do prefer to take all our own wherever possible), only taking our masks and computers. We did this when diving in Chile a couple of weeks ago.

    Where in Chile Allan? And what was it like? are you planning a report? Never heard of diving in Chile. Realise there is scope for serious off thread here.
