    Life Insurance and Kit Insurance

    Dull but necessary unfortunately.

I just wondered if there were recommendations in terms of who is good to go through, I have just had an email from DM but not sure who else to approach for a quote.

    For kit i'd go Westfield.

The marker of a good outfit is how they react when things go wrong and
they've been very good when i've dealt with them in the past.

Specialist Sport Diving Insurances designed specifically or your sport. Tried and tested policies from one of the pioneers and market leaders of Equipment Insurance, RIB Insurance including member to member liability, Travel Insurance. Chosen By the SAA for our Expertise...

I added my expensive items (e.g. Rebreather) to my home insurance, covers everything that DM did except jettisoning (i.e. loss while in use), which for the price difference is a risk I'll take.

For Life insurance, Vitality, they cover up to my qualifications, don't have to tell them when you have a new cert or anything.

+1 Always found Westfeild to be spot on for both kit and life.
        Give them a call.

Think my life is with aig- no mention of sports or needing to tell them so I could be a banzai base jumper and I’d still be covered

What are people paying for their life insurance? I'm being quoted £36 to £40 a month!

Thank you. Seems like the quote wasn't as bad as I thought then. Annoying thing is I'm covered for life, accident and travel whilst at work but not on leave.

You probably should check that through your broker - if you were a base jumper before you took it out they probably would have asked; my experience was I got mine underwritten at a time when I was mister boring and they were happy even though my risk subsequently went up a lot (job in "post conflict situations") because as they said "when you took it out you weren't planning on doing any of that". I still have the policy as its still competitive according to the internet and I would probably have to pay a lot more to replicate it now because I am now much higher risk and older.

Policies in the past have had caveats or specific questions, this lot were obsessed over my health. No mention anywhere of sports or a requirement to disclose anywhere on there t&c- so provided I don’t get diagnosed with a terminal illness within the next 12months I’m sorted

I insurance my kit on my home insurance. It took me a lot of phonecalls to find an insurer that would cover it:
                        a) While in the garage (most have a low limit on the value of stuff in 'outbuildings' even thought the garage is part of the house)
                        b) While in Use
                        c) In a parked car overnight while staying in a B&B.

However Liverpool Victoria (LV=) came up trumps with a decent price so I've insured with them. I've never had to make a claim (touch wood) though.
