Very pleased to kick off the monthly underwater photography photo competition for 2018.
The theme for this month's competition is SPLIT LEVEL.
What's a split level shot? In a nutshell, it's a photo that's taken with the camera half in and half out of the water so that you get the classic 'waterline' split level effect so beloved of travel photographers. It's not an easy effect to get right - you ideally need calm water or a nice big dome port (or a combination of the two) :-)
I'm not worried where the shot is taken as long as it's not in a bath, swimming pool etc - it has to be in open water (fresh or salt). Rivers, lakes, quarries (!) and, of course, the sea both here and abroad all good. Even rock pools are acceptable as long as the rock pool isn't in an aquarium ;-)
