Could it have been badly set-up / maintained ?

I used an egress at 60m as part of a test of several regs and was fine. Not the best breathe in the world but dry and ok.

The one and only time I was obliged to take air from a buddy in an OOA shit storm wasn't actually a buddy. It was the dive guide. We were all separated all over the shop at depth and in strong current. Extraordinary situation. However we were both configured as per PADI and had no issues at all. So I guess what I'm saying is the length of ones hose matters not a feckin jot. It's way more important to understand what one does with that hose is the important factor and follow ones training. Length isn't always the most important factor

Must be poor maintenance (if you got a wet breathe, I'd suspect a loose/punctured mouthpiece). I use Egresses for all my octos, and for my stages.
