Envy folks that log dives in some ways - but kinda like diary writing never been bothered, other than the occasional computer dump download

I sometimes wish I had a fuller record but then I ask my 'why?' and fail to find a satisfactory answer. Instead I maintain a sparse record in Excel and download from some computers. AP offer much detail from the Vision and I still carry my old Suunto Vyper with me and periodically upload the contents to DM3.1, although that is as far as it goes.

In Excel I record one line per dive with a number of columns which enable all manner of useless metrics to be extracted. Not detailed but it does mean I can look back and know what, when, how long, how deep, who with, which boat, how much lead and basics like that. It proved helpful the other day when I dug out my wetsuit and single tank and walked down the beach with the correct amount of lead.

I download my shearwater sometimes, but don't really look at it. Now I only even make a quick note of what weight with what set up as a note on my iPhone

I log teaching dives (as required by ACOPs) and experience dives upto number required by GUE - other than that even 1 line on excel is too much
