My info might be a bit dated. But Chris Holdens Books or Scott Waterman/andy Shears Anglesy Wrecks and Reefs are i'd say essential if you are trying to dive there independent of charter boats. I have studied the local charts and the Almanac of the local sailing club and the slack times I worked out for various locations never corresponded to that published in the books. But the Books were accurate. I wonder how they worked out the slack times for their books. They must have sat there anchored at the locations for days to observe slack times.
I'd choose my location close to the harbour of my Charter boat. At the time I lived there there were boats going out from Menai Bridge, Amlwch and Holyhead. Treaddur bay seemed most popular with clubs launching their own Rhibs but there is slips/beaches dotted around from Menai Bridge to Rhosneigr but IIRC not much in the south of the island. Stay central and then launch closest to the wreck you are planning to do? If you want a picturesque place to stay then i'd recomend in Menai Bridge or Beaumaris.
Nitrox and trimix was available in Holyhead at anglesey divers. I think it was only Air fills that were available in Treaddur Bay from diving services angesey, and Vivien Dive Center in Llanberis Snowdonia.
I suspect it was fill logistics that made Treaddur Bay so popular with visiting clubs.
Scott Waterman had a compressor in Menai Bridge for his charter guests I suspect other skippers might too. The Local clubs all had thier own compressors for members only due to insurance. There was Gwynned, Rhosneigr, and Bangor University BSAC branches who may be willing to give you some more up to date local knowledge.

Chris Holden`s book is accurate, I saw first hand the work that went into it.
The other, considerably less so.
Does Elfyn still go from Amlwch? The Julie Ann I think.
It's been a while though so Ive no idea if it's still relevant.
I strongly recommend Chris Holden's books. I've found them to be spot on re tides and marks.
Air is available from Anglesey Divers at Holyhead or from Amlwch (John Gill). John does nitro / trimix, not sure re Anglesey Divers. I believe that Elfyn is still doing boat charters from Amlwch.
PM me if you want contacts at local clubs.
