    Freediving fins for giant feet

    Hello everyone,

I am going to go to LIDS and speak to the guys that run the freedive stand there if I get a chance, but I am a big footed chap, size 13-14 depending on shoe, I have the biggest foot pockets that othree do on their dry suit so I am stuck using XXL Beaver Assault fins, which are fine for scuba but I do a fair bit of free diving when away on holiday, down to around 12, and want to get some long springy light ones that you guys use, does anyone know if you can get silly big foot pocket ones?

    Thanks for your time

    Cheers

    Lee

    Hi Lee,

I guess it will depend what type of fins you want to buy. Plastic fins may have a limited choice but for fiber glass or carbon fines you buy footpocket and blades separately so I guess you should be able to get the size you want.

Where are you based in the UK?

    Have you tried Apnea?

I have always found Apnea to be very helpful, drop them a line or phone for advice.

i am not sure you will get more info in Lids as you will find clubs mainly, so if you come down just for that might not be worth it. We all usually buy directly from the distributors or fin makers.

Apnea is one solution. you can also contact Steve Millard, apneaboy on TDF. He is an instructor trainer based in Manchester (aquatecs) and head of the BFA. he should be able to advice you here. you can also look for info on deeperblue another forum specialised in freediving where someone may have asked the same question.
    good luck!

Re: Freediving fins for giant feet

Higher end spearo/freedive fins are made up to suit. You buy the foot pocket you want and match it to a separate blade. Expensive though, 100 quid will get you a cheap set. Not ideal for travel as they are long and thin.

Apnea are good. There used to be a good American site that had every combo imagonable.

    Lee,

I'm a size UK 15 and found some from a shop in spain called Scubastore or DiveInn (both are on the invoice)

The model I have is the OMER STINGRAY DARK GREY 49/50 Ref: (P7149), and they are a little too big but OK with neoprene socks.

83 including postage when I got them.

    . Scubastore.com, buy, offers
