    Green force upgrade?

I have an arrow 12 with a tristar head (the dimmable one).

It used to be the brightest on the boat, sadly that's no longer the case. It's still as bright but it would appear these new fan dangle torches make it look, well, a bit crap really.

So can I upgrade. I see greenforce do a heptastar heads. 2000, 3000 and even 4000 lumens has been banded around. Will my arrow 12 be up to the task?

Or am I just kidding myself, sell it and start again?

    Jerry.

I would call Lumb and ask. Strikalite says the A12 is 3300mAh, so would look good to me looking at the GF chart:

New batteries only 47.50 +P&P too.

Thanks Matt, I've not seen that chart before. I got a new back up today and it's brighter than my primary. I think I'll give them a ring as you suggest.

    Cheers

    Green force upgrade?

The answer, in case anyone is in the same boat as me, is yes. I can get the tristar 1070 for 3 hours burn time or the heptastar 2000 for a 90 minute burn time.

    Smiler:

just flog it on ebay. I had an old tristar with an F2 battery. I got a little cheesed off with the "oh I didn't realise you had your torch on" comments, so I flogged it on FB for 100. Picked up a Halcyon Focus 2nd hand for 500 (but you can get them new for 650) and its fair to say I have literally seen the light!.

Get the heptastar 2000. It's a reasonable amount of light and very compact light head that sits neatly on your hand. 90 minutes will see you through most dives if you only really need it on the bottom.

That's the one I was leaning towards.

I might be tempted if I could get one for that price new. I can't find any that cheap, where have you seen them?

I have a project running to make a converter that will allow the head from this cheap (<40) eBay lamp

to connect to a standard Greenforce umbilical and battery.

Which will give a 9x XM-L2 T6 CREE LED head upgrade (10,000 Chinese lumens*) for your GF for less than 80 complete. There won't be any mods to the lamp or the GF connector so you can remove the adaptor and turn it back to a hand held for travel etc. Should give significant burn time from an F2 battery. I chose this head because it it is powerful, spot focused beam and has triple o-ring seal.

Once complete, debugged and field tested I will post details of who fabricated the adaptor so others can obtain them if they want.

    * Chinese lumen, typically 20% of the luminous flux of the SI lumen.
