    Dive op recommendation, Canary islands

SWMBO is warming to the idea of a week in the Canaries coming winter. Me and the boys diving (at least some of the time), she enjoying the beach/pool and perhaps some sightseeing. Plus some time together, of course. So far we've looked at Tenerife as that island seems to be able to offer more than pools and bars, but that's just a superficial first impression.

Judging from a few quick Google searches, dive ops are dime a dozen in the Canaries. I'd really like to find someone with a good record for safety procedures, but which still treats me as the (reasonably) competent adult person I am. That's pretty hard to determine by looking at Tripadvisor reviews, so tips would really be appreciated. Doubly so if they're based on personal experience.

If it moves - canoe it, if it doesn't dive it!

If they're still there, Pete @ Dive Tenerife is excellent.

    Some good advice here: http://www.bsac.com/findit.asp?cat=t...rife&x=24&y=16

Funnily enough despite all the Council have done to diminish the BSAC forum presence online the BSAC Travel Club is undergoing a mini revival. We have even had a report from the UK http://www.bsac.com/findit.asp?cat=t...day+reports%2E

Safari in Lanzarote are very good. Wendy runs the joint and is friendly and helpful. Even sorted out accommodation for us. The location of their dive centre couldn't be better, on the beach, literally. Boat dives are not charged as an extra either.

Rebreathers are like women; they pretend to love you, whilst taking all your money and trying to kill you.

Manta Diving in Lanzarote (v close to Safari mentioned above) are also really excellent. My misses did her training with them and they have a new nitrox compressor, good quality gear for hire and the staff are all great.

I've dived many times over the last 11 years with http://www.aqua-marina.com/ in Playa de Las Americas, Tenerife.

Used to operate from Las Vistas beach, which could make loading/unloading the Rib "fun" in the surf! They moved premises last year and now operate the Rib out of Los Cristanous marina. Much more civilised
