Post Aberdeen University Marine Survey - Expires Sunday 20th January

Until midnight on Sunday, 20th January, divers are being invited to complete an ONLINE SURVEY specific to their own diving and snorkelling activity around the British coastline.

The survey, conducted by the University of Aberdeen, supported by the Marine Conservation Society, ScotSAC, BSAC, the Angling Trust and others, hopes to gain valuable information that diving organisations will use to influence decision-making around 127 Marine Protected Zones in England and a yet to be determined number of Marine Protected Areas in Scotland. The survey will help to ensure that the specific needs and values of divers are taken into account when decisions regarding these areas are made.

At the heart of the research project are personal values of key sites around the UK. Researchers are particularly interested in the views of divers on the sites they visit, what it is about these sites they value the most and whether they believe these sites are worth protecting.

This survey is an excellent opportunity for diversí unique and important views to be heard, and to help protect dive and marine sites for future generations.

Going to give this a bump as the findings will go to "key decision makers" and affects over 120 currently protected areas across the UK...
