    Polymorph and toslink
I have nothing to do with BSAC any more apart from being a muggle member. So anything I write on here is likely to be complete bollocks. Hooray!

and don't buy the fibre from a camera shop unless you want to pay through the nose for something worth 99p!

TOs link cable is the stuff that optically connects DVD players and audio kit together. Couple of quid for 10m off eBay.

    Polymorph? Ever heard of Google?

Polymorph is a kind of plastic that is moldable at about 100C. You can drop it into boiling water and make it into any shape you like. You can buy it from Maplin amongst other places. The cables can be bought very cheaply from Ebay as toslink (as Woz says) or Hi fi fibre optic cables. They come with square connectors on the ends, but you can round or cut them off to fit.

When you trim Toslink cable, if you use a sharp craft knife (I use a scalpel) it leaves a polished surface for the light to shine through.
