Sorry! Have pity as I arose at 0345 to catch the early morning ferry from Gozo this morning.

Put the image in the Public folder of Dropbox, then right click and there should be something likes 'Copy Public Link', and the post that into the bit where it asks for a URL.

Right click on the actual image, (if in Firefox you can directly copy the image location, if in IE you need to cut and paste it from the properties window.

Place this code in between [img] [/img] tags

I can't get dropbox to work with an jpg file. I don't have a public folder and when I click to generate the URL I get an https: type URL. It works as a link but not as an img. Is it the https: that is stopping it working?

          Link-https://www.dropbox.com/sc/5c1k18sjm...Qo8b51BvtDkWZa

          IMG-

          Any ideas?

I'm on the free version of Dropbox.

Just create a 'Public' folder if you don't have one. It should automatically have the correct attributes.

I use the Dropbox app on my Mac, I assume there's one for Windows too. Then you can manage your Dropbox content from Finder (or Explorer).

            Here's a chicken:

I am on the free version of Dropbox too (although I have managed to obtain 22Gb through referrals etc )

As far as I was aware, every Dropbox account had a public folder. What folders are listed under your top level Dropbox folder?

Just click on 'Copy Public Link'

and the correct URL will be magically placed in your clipboard. Then just click on the little 'Photo' icon

when you want to place the image into a post and Cmd-V the url into the box or just DIY it by placing it between 'IMG' tags

So do I need a Public folder? I'm not going to pay £8 per month just to do that.

Dropbox says I shouldn't need one but the URLs I end up with look like "https://www.dropbox.com/s/v1i7eqxcwf4y040/stupid.jpg?dl=0".

                      Link - https://www.dropbox.com/s/v1i7eqxcwf...tupid.jpg?dl=0

Link above seems to work but no varients of IMG appear to work.

                      I'm confused.

                      Ron.

No, one can share from any folder now.

The 'Share' button just seems to give a link to the file to view online though. If you download the desktop app, it's a lot easier to do what I've done above.

[EDIT]Having checked, it seems to do the same thing from within the app too. One gets the option to 'Share Dropbox Link' rather than 'Copy Public Link'.

I'll investigate further, but I just created a 'Public' folder from within the desktop app. I did have the account prior to the new system being invoked though[/EDIT]

Not sure if you can Nick.

I have just 'Shared Dropbox Link' for the post above and the image isn't displayed but if you open the link in a new page, then the image is displayed.
